A stuff sack is another form of a packing cube or packing cell, however, as the name suggests you “stuff” gear into the sack. Stuff sacks are handy for items that don’t necessarily need to be folded and can be squashed into the bag and then the bag stuffed into a pocket or spare gap in your hiking backpack. Stuff sacks are great for storing items that you might need quick and easy access to that allow you to stuff the bag into areas at the top or close to the top of your backpack.

Stuff sacks are great for items such as clean or dirty underwear and socks, but are also great for items such as beanies, gloves, and scarves or even rain gear.
